Luane Beck is an actress, screenwriter and director.  She directed the 2003 critically acclaimed film Intentions  along with the documentary River Team which looks at environmental issues.

Mark Coleman is the author of the new book, Awake in the Wild: Mindfulness in Nature as a Path of Self-Discovery. He has worked alongside Jack Kornfield, Sylvia Boorstein, and Sharon Salzberg. He has had a meditation practice for 25 years, primarily within the Insight Meditation tradition but also influenced by Advantage and Dzogchen teachings. For the past eight years, he has conducted meditation retreats in the wilderness (in the UK, India and the USA), combining his Buddhist practice with nature and environmental activism. Mark is a workshop leader and Staff Dharma Teacher at Spirit Rock Meditation Center in Northern California, and he is a regular guest teacher at retreat centers around the U.S.

Loose Change, a documentary about 9/11 is one of the most downloaded video on the Internet.  This highly controversial film makes some wild assertions that fly in the face of common beliefs about that tragic day.  The filmmakers use live news footage, reports from mainstream news sources, and interviews with so-called experts to suggest that:

âA missile, not a commercial jet, hit the Pentagon.
âNon-commercial planes hit the World Trade Center towers.
âExplosives planted inside the trade center were what brought down the towers rather than burning jet fuel.
âThe plane that crashed in Pennsylvania did not really crash, but rather landed in Ohio.
âMany of the 19 hijackers are still alive.
âMembers of the Bush Administration, not Al Qaida and Osama bin Laden were behind the attacks.

Of course this is in stark contrast to the findings of the 9/11 commission report and, according to mainstream media reporting, is completely false.    That said, I love a good conspiracy theory as much as Oliver Stone, so with me in this podcast is Jason Bermas, one of the producers of Loose Change, to discuss some of the controversial claims in the film.

Jesus Camp, the hit documentary in theaters across the United States right now is raising many eyebrows.  The film takes a look at the Evangelical Christian movement in general and the work of the Reverend Becky Fischer specifically.  Becky, who runs a summer camp for children, which states its goal: to teach, train, and equip children to do the work of ministry and release them in their giftings and callings. 

While many see this film as controversial, Becky Fischer apparently likes the film and promotes it from her website.  Ted Haggard, a prominent Christian leader, who is also featured in the film, has a less than flattering opinion about it and has criticized it on his website.

Lance King is a long-standing friend of mine and a Christian.  He loosely defines himself as an evangelical but has many concerns about the direction in which many conservative Christians are moving politically, socially and even spiritually.  I asked him if he would go see the documentary Jesus Camp, and share with us his feedback and perceptions on the film.
